Neither its content nor results from a linked third-party tool may be used for decisions about credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or another FCRA-regulated purpose. A regulated check must use the official process required by law or a qualified FCRA-compliant provider. Iowa DCI is the state's official criminal-history repository, but the requester remains responsible for lawful use.
Accuracy of Information
Government agencies can revise an address, telephone number, counter schedule, fee, or request process with little notice. Court, jail, Iowa DCI, and registry systems also change as new events are entered. Linn County Criminal History cannot warrant that every published detail is complete or current. Confirm procedures and costs with the record custodian before visiting an office, submitting a request, or paying a fee.
An Arrest Is Not a Conviction
An arrest or booking does not establish guilt. Prosecutors may decline a charge, filed counts can change, and a case may end in dismissal or acquittal. An intake entry does not show the final court result. Iowa records can also be corrected, made confidential, or expunged under chapter 901C, so an older copy may no longer reflect current status. Verify the disposition with the Iowa District Court clerk and confirm repository data through the Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigation.
A located record is a starting point, never a verdict. Only its official custodian can confirm the current entry and whether Iowa law permits release.

No content on Linn County Criminal History is an official record. A court date must be checked with the Linn County Clerk. The Sheriff or jail should confirm a warrant or custody question within its authority. State criminal-history data comes from Iowa DCI, and public registration data comes from the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Only the issuing custodian can provide an official or certified copy.

An actual government record must be searched for or requested through its official custodian, subject to Iowa Code chapters 22, 692, and 692A.
